Presenting to you all my personal take on the Man of Steel himself, Clark Kent/Superman! Pretty much wanted to tackle a more hopeful side of the superhero mythos as a way of testing my skills further and to change up the pace and scenery a little bit.
Took it upon myself, as well, to redesign the iconic suit after, quite frankly, being disappointed by the new one in the upcoming James Gunn film. Don't get me wrong. I honestly liked the trailer in spite of my severe disdain for a lot of mainstream entertainment as of late. Just really not a fan of how loose and weirdly blocky and militarized the aesthetic choice for the costume turned into. Combining the extended neck collar thing with the red trunks just felt so off to me. Doesn't look all that right in my book.
So, yeah. Instead of complaining about it too much, I ended up illustrating this as my way of showcasing how I think it's entirely possible to keep the red trunks on while going for that more alien appeal of the suit being something truly of Kryptonian origin without compromising the overall look and feel of the original design. I did my best to have the suit feel organic in such a way that it could be the suit people of Krypton would wear underneath their armor or other attires. Main inspirations would be primarily from Man of Steel (2013 film), Superman: Birthright (limited comic book series), and Alexander Lozano's artworks of the titular character.
Anyway, hoping you all like this one and how it turned out! Feel free to let me know what you think, as well, of my take on Superman, especially regarding the redesign and the focus on emphasizing the alien element and attempt at still keeping in line with the source material.
God bless!!!
